500,000 Electric Cars on Europe’s Roads by End of the Year

gold-teamgb-leaf145,000 sales of electric vehicles were made in the UK and Europe in 2015 – twice the number sold in the previous year.

According to a recent report by Transport & Environment, this means 500,000 cars will be driving on European roads by the end of 2016. It’s good news for the electric vehicles sector, which had less than 100,000 road-going EVs in Europe just three years ago.

The UK is Europe’s third biggest market for electric vehicles, behind Norway and the Netherlands, an important step in combatting the alarming levels of pollution present in their major cities.

In London, City Hall sees electric vehicles as key to achieving London’s targets for clean air and has committed to having 100,000 EVs on London’s streets by 2020
